The city of Kwethluk is a second-class city which was incorporated in 1975. A seven-member city council is elected by the voters at large. Council members serve a staggered term of 1,2 and 3 years. Regular City Council meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. The council meetingsare open to the public.
